In the United States, many offices and businesses are closed on Labor Day because it is a federal holiday. On Labor Day, state-run liquor stores may be closed or only open for a limited number of hours.

Hundreds of Fine Wine & Good Spirits locations will be open on national holidays this year, as if we’d forget, says the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day are all public holidays, according to a PLCB press release.
There will be no Labor Day Monday closures for Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores that normally operate on Mondays.
On Columbus Day and Veterans Day, the stores will be open for business as usual.
The PLCB says that in 2016, the law was changed to allow stores to open on holidays.
There are more than 600 wine and spirits stores across the state of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) licences over 20,000 producers, retailers, and handlers of alcohol.
The state’s Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores, which are run by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, will be open as usual on Labor Day, but will close at 4 p.m. local time.
“The store locator page at FWGS.com has an up-to-date list of locations, including specific store hours. On Mondays, Fine Wine & Good Spirits will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to support curbside service.
On the store locator page of FWGS.com, “a current list of participating stores with individual store hours” is available, the board said.
Virginia’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) has confirmed that on Labor Day, all Virginia ABC locations will open at 12 p.m. and close at 6 p.m. local time. During the weekend before the holiday, stores will be open for business as usual.
For starters, why should you care? There’s more to it than just needing to know if your local supermarket has the ingredients for grilling recipes. Labor Day is, after all, a day set aside to honour those who work. For more than 130 years, it has been a federal “workingmen’s holiday” recognised by the US Department of Labor and marked by a three-day weekend. You can also expect to see plenty of barbecue dishes on the menu.

Even though it may seem contrary to the holiday’s stated goal, not everyone gets a day off work on that particular Monday in September. Most major businesses and chain stores, as well as the majority of restaurants, remain open. Those who work for the federal government are almost certain to get an extra 24 hours of vacation time, while the rest of us working people’s weekend plans are less certain (in other words, don’t book your pumpkin farm excursion just yet).

The official said: “Due to the holiday, Mini Monday, which is usually observed on the first Monday of each month, will now take place on Monday, September 14. 99 Black Cherry Schnapps will be given away to customers who purchase $25 or more worth of spirits or wine on that day.
