Labor Day Post Office Hours 2022 – Check Details

Spread the love

Labor Day falls on Sept. 6, which means that many of us will be able to enjoy a three-day weekend because of the Monday holiday. Because of this, it’s difficult to know whether or not the post office will be open on this special day, especially since many businesses will be closed.

Post offices are usually closed on major holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, but this isn’t always the case for less significant ones like Labor Day.

Today is Labor Day, a day set aside each year to honour the achievements of American workers and to thank them for their contributions to the country’s economy.

Every year since 1894, this day has been observed as a national holiday by many workers.

Grover Cleveland, the first president to sign it into law, set the date for its annual observance on the first Monday in September. In addition, the end of summer and the beginning of fall and back-to-school season are marked by the arrival of the fall foliage.

On Labor Day, is the Post Office open?

As a federal holiday, many federal employees will be taking time off, which means that many services will be closed or unavailable.

There will be no mail delivery on Labor Day because the U.S. Postal Service does not operate on federal holidays and is closed for the holiday. You don’t have to go outside on September 6 to check your mailbox.

Labor Day Post Office Hours

UPS

UPS will be closed on Labor Day, both in terms of its pickup and delivery services as well as its physical locations.

UPS Express Critical will still be available via its dedicated website for critical shipments.

FedEx

FedEx, too, will be slashing its service today because of the holiday.

On Labor Day, none of the company’s express, ground, home delivery, ground economy, or freight services will be offered.

Check with your local office for details on hours of operation as some will be open with modified hours, but many branches will be closed.

FedEx Custom Critical, which provides expedited freight shipping, is the only service that will continue to operate as usual.

Sadly, the Post Office will be closed for the holiday. The vast majority of government agencies will be closed on this day to coincide with the holiday. In this time of year, the Post Office is at its busiest, but no mail will move a jot on Monday. Why? The last of the summer sun will be enjoyed by postal workers gathered around a BBQ, beers in hand. Is it any wonder? No, there isn’t.

On Tuesday morning, postal services will resume normal operations. What if you need to send a letter of the utmost importance? Grandma, have you ever heard of E-mail?

As this year’s Christmas falls on a Saturday, federal workers, including USPS employees, will not be required to work on December 25; however, mail deliveries may be affected because of this.
